Efstratios Grivas is a Greek chess Grandmaster. He was born in Egio, Greece on March 30, 1966. He received the International Grandmaster title in 1992, followed by the FIDE Senior Trainer title in 2005. His career has seen him compete in nine Chess Olympiads for Greek national team, where he earned various medals. Along with competing, Grivas also has a successful track record as a chess trainer and author.
His work in training includes positions as Secretary of the FIDE Trainers' Commission, member of the Greek and Turkish Chess Federations, and trainer of the national teams of Wales, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, among others. He has worked with international chess organisations, coaching young talent at FIDE training camps and seminars and serving as Chief Lecturer at a number of FIDE Trainer Academies.
Grivas has also been an active chess official, holding the position of Secretary at the Turkish Chess Federation. He played a major role in bringing the 2012 World Chess Olympiad to Istanbul, Turkey. Additionally, he has been serving FIDE (World Chess Federation) in various capacities throughout his career.
