Gukesh D is listed as an Indian chess player from Chennai, who earned the title of Grandmaster on 29th January 2019, when he was 12 years, 7 months, and 17 days old, becoming the second youngest person to do so.
Gukesh D was initially trained by his father, before he started training under Grandmaster B. Adhiban. He was then coached by International Master P. Karthikeyan, and currently receives guidance from Grandmaster Vishnu Prasanna and British Grandmaster Nigel Short.
Gukesh D's notable wins include the World Youth Chess Championship Under-12 category in 2018 and the International Open in Xtracon, Denmark in 2019. He also gained international attention when he won the Bangkok Open Chess Championship in April 2019. Some of his other wins include the Hillerød Chess Club in Denmark and the 3rd Orbis GM Closed Round Robin in Paracin, Serbia. He won the Vergani Cup in January 2021.
