Abhijeet Gupta is an accomplished Indian chess player, he achieved the status of international grandmaster in 2008. He was born on 16th October 1989 in Bhilai, Chattisgarh. He attended Delhi Public School, boasting a mathematics major, and attended the Sri Venkateswara College at Delhi University. Gupta has several significant wins, including the World Junior Champion in 2008, Commonwealth Chess Champion in 2015, and the Reykjavik Open in 2016. He has represented India multiple times in the Chess Olympiad and the Asian Team Chess Championship.



Some of his significant performances include the winning the title in the fourth, fifth, sixth SPICE Cup Invitational tournament in Texas, a home-soil victory at the Commonwealth Chess Championship in India, and success at the Al ain Chess Classic.


In the Reykjavik Open tournament in 2016, Gupta managed to remain undefeated and finished first with a score of 8½/10.


He married WGM Tania Sachdev, another renowned chess player, in 2018.
