Stelios Halkias is a Greek chess player who holds the esteemed title of Grandmaster (GM), which is among the highest designations awarded by Fédération Internationale des Échecs (World Chess Federation). Born on November 11, 1980, Halkias won the Greek Chess Championship twice, in 2002 and 2010. In addition, he has represented Greece multiple times in team events such as the Chess Olympiad, the European Team Chess Championship, and the Mediterranean Chess Championship.
Halkias obtained the titles of International Master (IM) and GM in 2000 and 2004, respectively. He was part of the Greek team that finished fifth at the 36th Chess Olympiad, which was held in Calvià, Spain, in 2004. At the Dresden 2008 Olympiad, he won an individual bronze medal while playing at the fourth board.
