Hicham Hamdouchi is a Moroccan-born French chess Grandmaster. Born in Tétouan, Morocco, on December 17, 1972, he is known for being one of the top African chess players. He accumulated eight Moroccan Chess Championships from 1989 to 2000.
Hamdouchi moved to France in 2003 and obtained his French citizenship in 2009. He represented Morocco in nine Chess Olympiads from 1988 to 2006, winning two individual bronze medals. Upon obtaining his French citizenship, he has represented France in the Chess Olympiad in 2012 and the World Team Chess Championship in 2013.
His style of play is widely recognized for its creativity and he is known for his positional understanding, endgame skills, and ability to create complex tactical opportunities.
