Lars Bo Hansen is a Danish chess grandmaster and chess coach who was born on September 24, 1968. He began his career by winning the Danish Youth Championship in 1985, 1986, and 1987. He became an International Master in 1987 and in 1990, he was awarded the Grandmaster title by FIDE.
Hansen has won the Danish Chess Championship four times in 1990, 1995, 1997, and 2005. Often with the Danish team, he has also competed in nine Chess Olympiads from 1988 to 2006. He led the team in thirty of those years to successful results.
In 2004 he moved to America and began coaching. As a chess coach, he has trained a number of successful players in both Europe and the USA. He has coached in Florida Atlantic University and Nova Southeastern University, and has written about chess in several magazines.
Outside of his chess career, he holds an EMBA (Master of Business Administration) from the University of Southern Denmark. Despite his professional chess career, he had continued his academic studies and has been working in the financial sector.
