Andreas Heimann is a German Grandmaster of chess, the highest title a player can achieve. He was awarded this title by the World Chess Federation, FIDE, in 2018. He was born on December 5, 1992 in Stuhlingen, Baden-Wurttemberg.

Heimann's tennis-enthusiast parents introduced him to chess, a sport in which he would excel. His father enrolled him in a chess club at the age of 4 which was the foundation for his understanding of the game.

Heimann won the German Youth Chess Championship in his respective age group in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008. In 2009, he won the national championship, making him one of the top players in his age group nationwide. Heimann also represented Germany in the European Youth Chess Championships and the World Youth Chess Championships, reaching the top 10 several times.

From 2007 until 2015, Heimann played for the chess club SC Caissa Schwarzwald. He then played for the club OSG Baden-Baden, one of the leading German chess clubs. He played an instrumental role in leading the club to win the German Club Championship in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Heimann ranked third in the German Chess Championship in 2016 and 2018. He also posted notable performances in international tournaments, including wins in the Basel Chess Festival in 2017, and the Cannes Open in 2018.

In addition to his competitive play, Heimann has served as a trainer for the German Chess Federation since 2013 and for the Swiss Chess Federation since 2017. He is also an author and presenter for ChessBase.
