Tiger Hillarp Persson is a Swedish chess Grandmaster, who was awarded the International Master title in 1997 and the Grandmaster title in 2005. He has represented Sweden in five Chess Olympiads in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008. He's also a frequent competitor in the prestigious Swedish Championships.
In the early 2000s, Hillarp Persson began focusing on the Modern Defence opening strategy. His successful use of the funnel-shaped opening helped him win the 2008 Sigeman & Co Chess tournament in Malmö, Sweden. He also became a popular chess writer, with his blog ‘Tiger's Chess Adventures’ gaining a following among enthusiasts for its detailed commentary, game analysis, and personal anecdotes.
