Alejandro Hoffman is an Argentinian chess Grandmaster who was born on May 14, 1966. He gained his International Master title in 1986 and was awarded the title of Grandmaster in 2000.


In national competitions, Hoffman was successful in the Under-14 and Under-16 categories. Later, he emerged as the winner of the 2001 Argentine Championship. He has represented Argentina in various international tournaments, including seven Chess Olympiads, from 1996 to 2008.


Hoffman has competed in multiple international tournaments. Notable among them include achieving first place at Predeal in 1999, tying for first at Mar del Plata in 2003, and tying for first place at the Memorial Jorge Szmetan in 2003.


Throughout his chess career, Hoffman has fared well against some of the top-rated players. For example, he defeated Vladimir Kramnik in 2001 and Veselin Topalov in 2005.


Hoffman has also been a successful chess coach, particularly in the women's circuit. He coached the Argentine women's team in three Chess Olympiads. Under his coaching, the Women's World Champion Zhu Chen won the bronze medal at the Women's World Chess Championship in 2006.
