Frank Holzke is a German chess player who was awarded the title of Grandmaster by the International Chess Federation in 2006. He was born on May 2, 1971 in Tübingen, Germany. Holzke studied at the University of Tübingen, where he graduated with a mathematics degree.


He became a Youth Chess Champion of Baden-Württemberg in 1986. In 2005, Holzke played for the German national team in the European Team Chess Championship, and he also took part in the Chess Olympiad in 2006 where he scored 6.5 points out of 10. In 2014, he won the prestigious German Chess Championship.


Holzke's notable victories include defeating grandmasters Loek Van Wely and Vladimir Malakhov both in 2005 and British chess grandmaster Aaron Summerscale in 2006.
