Krunoslav Hulak (25 May 1951 – 23 October 2015) was a Croatian chess player who was awarded the title of International Master in 1974 and Grandmaster in 1976 by FIDE. Throughout his career, he won the Yugoslav Chess Championship six times from 1976–1997, the Croatian Chess Championship twice in 2005 and 2006, and represented his country in eight Chess Olympiads, securing a bronze medal in Malta in 1980.
Over the years, he served on the board of the Croatian Chess Federation. After his competitive career, he also became a successful coach and writer, publishing several books on chess tactics.
Hulak died in 2015 at the age of 64 after a long battle with cancer. His death was a significant loss to the chess world and his contributions to the sport in his country are still recognized today.
