Zlatko Ilinčić is a Yugoslav and Croatian chess Grandmaster (GM). He was born on 7 March 1963 in Slavonski Brod, Croatia. Ilinčić was awarded the GM title in 1993.


He participated in many international tournaments, notably the 41st Chess Olympiad in Tromsø, where he scored five points out of nine games. He has also performed well in the Croatian chess championships, securing the title in Rijeka in 2001.


Ilinčić was part of the Yugoslavian junior team at the World U26 Team Chess Championship in Graz in 1981. The team won the bronze medal. During his career, he has achieved victories over some of the world's top chess players, such as Grandmasters Garry Kasparov and Vasily Smyslov.


In addition, Ilinčić is a trained mechanical engineer. He is married and has one child.
