Anuar Duisenovich Ismagambetov (born 1 June 1980) is a notable Kazakhstani chess player. He is a Grandmaster (the highest honour a chess player can attain) as recognised by the FIDE (World Chess Federation).
Ismagambetov was born and brought up in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. As a child, he displayed an extraordinary talent for chess and gradually established himself at a National level by winning the Kazakhstan Junior Chess Championship twice, in 1996 and 1997. His expertise in the game was well-recognised and he received the FIDE Master title the same year he won his second junior championship.
His biggest achievement came in 2002 when he clinched the prestigious World Junior Chess Championship. This victory earned him the Grandmastership in 2003. The same year, he won the Kazakhstan Chess Championship, marking it as an exceptionally successful year in his career. He also represented his home country at the 37th Chess Olympiad held in Turin in 2006.
