Salauat Gabdelgaziyevich Izmukhambetov is a Kazakhstani chess Grandmaster (GM) and a FIDE Trainer. He was born on September 6, 1959 in Markstadt, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. His career highlights include two-time national champion of Kazakhstan and representing his country in Chess Olympiads. He became a GM in 2001, and FIDE Trainer in 2014. He won the Kazakhstani Chess Championship in 1983 and 2000. Izmukhambetov has been a participant of both the Men's Chess Olympiads and the World Team Chess Championships for team Kazakhstan.
