Vlad-Cristian Jianu is a Romanian Grandmaster chess player and FIDE Trainer. He began playing in international tournaments at a young age and has since accumulated a wealth of accomplishments.


Born on 20 July 1984, Jianu completed the norms required for the Grandmaster title in 2005 and officially achieved the title in 2006. He has been designated a FIDE Trainer since 2010, allowing him to coach and mentor other players, including the UAE National Team.


Throughout his career, Jianu has achieved multiple titles in national and international tournaments. A three-time Romanian Youth National Champion, he has also won events such as the Silver Lake Open in Serbia, the Ikaros Chess Festival in Greece, and the Mediterranean Knights tournament in Montenegro.


Aside from his playing career, Jianu is also a recognized author in the chess community. He has penned "Practical Decision Making in Chess," a handbook that outlines strategic tips and practical advice for playing the game. In 2016, he published "Grandmaster Repertoire - The Sicilian Sveshnikov," which details an aggressive way to play one of the most popular chess openings. He has also contributed content to chess training websites, demonstrating his knowledge of the game.


Giving back to the chess community, Jianu has worked as a chess coach and trainer at The UAE Chess Federation, contributing his knowledge and skills to budding chess players.
