Darryl K. Johansen is an Australian chess Grandmaster who was born on the 4th of February, 1959. He was awarded the International Master (IM) title in 1984 and became Australia's third Grandmaster in 1995.
Johansen won the Australian Chess Championship four times, 1987, 1990, 1993, and 2012, and was the joint winner in 2002. He has taken part in various international competitions, including representing Australia in fifteen Chess Olympiads from 1984 to 2012.
His achievements also include coming first in tournaments such as the Melbourne Chess Club Championship and the Lidums Australian Young Masters tournament in Adelaide.
Johansen is a chess coach, providing training programs and resources for aspiring chess players. He coached the Australian teams that competed in the 2008 Chess Olympiad.
