Gábor Kállai is a Hungarian chess grandmaster, coach, and author who peaked at World No. 150 in 1992. He was born on September 28, 1959, in Szekszárd and achieved his grandmaster rank in 1994. Kállai has competed in many international events such as the Chess Olympiads, European Team Chess Championships, and the World Team Chess Championships, earning several medals. He also served as the captain of the Hungarian women’s team during the Chess Olympiad.
As an author, Kállai has written a book dedicated to Hungarian chess. He was also the joint editor of an encyclopedia of chess openings. Furthermore, he has been involved in the organisation of several major chess events, including serving as an operative manager at the 2012 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul.
