Heikki Olavi Kallio is a Finnish chess player who was awarded the title of International Master (IM) in 1983, and Grandmaster (GM) by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) in 2004. He represented Finland in the World Youth Chess Championship on two occasions. He has competed successfully in many chess tournaments, including the Finnish Chess Championship, where he won in 1987, 1989, 1991, 1992 and 1993. He is also known for representing Finland in the Chess Olympiad nine times. From 1988 to 2001 Kallio played in the Finnish Team Chess Championships, where he won seven gold medals. In 1994, Kallio was awarded the Chess-player of the Year title in Finland. He continues to play and is a member of the Swedish club Schack 08.
