Arjun Kalyan is an Indian chess Grandmaster. He achieved the title in May 2021, becoming the 68th Grandmaster from India. Arjun was born on 25th December 2000 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. His father, U Kalyanakumar, introduced him to chess at the age of five, and he was trained by Indian chess Grandmaster R.B. Ramesh.


Arjun Kalyan won his first FIDE Master title in 2014 and became an International Master in 2017. In his career, he has participated in numerous tournaments and has won several prestigious titles. For instance, he won the National Under-9 Chess Championship in 2009 and in 2016, he finished first in the National Under-17 Chess Championship and also won a gold medal in the Under 16 category of the Asian Youth Chess Championship.



Arjun Kalyan is largely considered to be one of the most promising young talents in Indian chess. His impressive performance at a young age has garnered him both national and international recognition in the chess community. He is known for his aggressive play style and has been praised for his analytical skills and deep understandings of various chess strategies.
