Meelis Kanep is an Estonian chess Grandmaster who was born on 23rd August, 1983. He was awarded the FIDE International Master (IM) title in 2004 and the Grandmaster (GM) title in 2011. Kanep won the Estonian Chess Championship twice, in 2006 and 2012. He also represented his country in multiple Chess Olympiads and European Chess Championships. Aside from his career as a player, Kanep has also been involved in chess politics and administration, serving as a vice-president of the Estonian Chess Federation from 2014 until 2020.
