Mikhail Kazakov is a prominent Russian chess Grandmaster. Born on August 15, 1965, in Moscow, Kazakov showed an early inclination towards chess. In 1987, he won the World Junior Chess Championship and was awarded the titles of International Master and Grandmaster in the same year. Throughout his career, he has participated in several high-level chess tournaments and matches, often ranking among the top players.


Kazakov has also made notable contributions to chess theory and wrote a series of articles related to the game. His more recent work includes being a coach for the national women's team from 2005 to 2010, where he played an essential role in Russia's gold medal win in the 2010 Chess Olympiad. He also served as a coach at the Anatoly Karpov chess school.


Kazakov is affiliated with the Chess Federation of Russia. He also serves as a Chairman of the Commission for Modern Chess, and as a Deputy Director of the Russian Chess Federation, underscoring his lasting commitment and contributions to the game of chess.
