Stefan Kindermann is a German chess Grandmaster, born on March 28, 1959 in Munich, Germany. He gained the International Master title in 1980 and the Grandmaster title in 1988. His peak ranking was 22nd in the world, which he achieved in 1988. Kindermann has participated in seven Chess Olympiads from 1984 to 1998, representing Germany. He has also been a member of the German team in European Team Chess Championship from 1989 to 1997.
Kindermann has been involved in significant chess victories in individual competitions, including being the joint winner of the 1985 Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting and beating several prominent chess players. He was also a runner-up in the 1991/1992 World Cup tournament.
Solingen, Bundesliga, Munich and Frankfurter were some of the clubs Kindermann played for. He was part of the Solingen team that won the European Clubs Cup in 1990. In 2004, he left chess to focus on an internet chess project called the Munich Chess Academy. As director, he also works as a trainer and author, co-writing the six-volume edition The Open Spanish and an interactive learning program, the ChessBase CD The Sicilian Kan Variation. Kindermann also uses chess to assist with management training in the business world.
