Komliakov represented Ukraine in the 2000 World Senior Championship, finishing in 20th place. Other big tournaments include the 1992 Aeroflot Open, the 1996 Santiago, the 1996 Lugano Open, and the 2000 Dubai. He also played in team events like the 1996 European Club Cup. One of Komliakov's best games was a win against Grandmaster Vladimir Tukmakov in 1996. No data about Komliakov is available after the 2013-2014 season.
Outside of chess, Komliakov gained a PhD in Physical Education from the Lviv State Institute of Physical Culture. He authored a paper about chess and education, and patented four devices related to chess and education.
