Bence Korpa is a Hungarian chess grandmaster. Born on August 18, 1999, he was introduced to chess by his parents at a young age.
He notched up several early accomplishments in his career. In 2011, he won the Under-12 division of the European Youth Chess Championship. He then went on to capture the World Youth Chess Championship's Under-16 title in 2015.
He achieved his first grandmaster norm in 2014 during the First Saturday tournament held in his home country, Hungary. His second grandmaster norm came during the 2015 Aeroflot Open, an annual open chess tournament. He finally earned his elite grandmaster status in July 2016, at the age of 16.
Korpa's playing style emphasizes the importance of tactical vision. Notably, Magnus Carlsen, the reigning World Chess Champion, has praised Korpa's style of play.
