Goran A. Kosanović is a Croatian chess Grandmaster, coach, and author. Born on July 23, 1944, in Lika, Croatia, his chess career spans many decades. He received the FIDE Master title in 1974 and achieved the International Master title in 1975. His high official FIDE ratings of 2510 and 2495 were well-respected in the chess community. However, his official FIDE ranking has varied significantly over the years, reflecting his temporal successes and failures.
Kosanović played as a member of the Croatian chess team in numerous Chess Olympiads, including those held in Siegen (1970), Havana (1972), Nice (1974), and Buenos Aires (1978), and thrice in Mitropa Cup. His performance played a significant role in the team's third-place finish at the 1980 Chess Olympiad in Valletta. He also participated in several international tournaments, securing victories at tournaments in Porz in 1974, Vršac in 1975, Oberwart in 1977, and Sarajevo in 1978.
