Vladimir G. Kostić is a Serbian chess Grandmaster who was born in Belgrade on 27th January 1949. He achieved his Grandmaster title in 1982, after becoming an International Master in 1977.
Kostić is widely recognised for his teaching methods and is a renowned chess author. His book "The Closed Sicilian" was published in 1989 and is considered a significant contribution to modern chess literature. He has written many other books on the subject including "The Grand Prix Attack".
Vladimir Kostić has competed in numerous international tournaments, winning many of them. In 1979, he won the championship of Yugoslavia. He also participated in several Chess Olympiads, representing Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro. He finished in the top 10 of the World Junior Chess Championship in 1967.
