Vitali Koziak is a Ukrainian chess grandmaster whose norms span an unusually long arc: the first in the Polish team league back in September 2007, the second at the Roma Citta Aperta Open in December 2016, and the last at the Oskemen Open Masters in October 2024 - seventeen years from first to final. The title was awarded in 2025.

His near misses along the way included the Villa de Navalmoral International Open in December 2013, where he tied for first with Namig Guliyev and took second on tiebreaks.
