Martyn Kravtsiv is an accomplished Ukrainian chess player who holds the prestigious title of Grandmaster (GM). He was first introduced to the world of chess at a young age in his home city, Lviv. Several more years of practice and competitions saw him rise through the ranks, and in 2008, he obtained his GM title.


Kravtsiv has a multitude of achievements to his name. Notably, his first significant accomplishment was when he won the U16 division of the European Youth Chess Championship in 2004. He then went on to impress on a more international scale at the World Youth Chess Championship, where he outperformed other competitors to secure a gold medal in the U18 category in 2008.


In adult competition, Kravtsiv kept his winning streak alive by becoming the national champion of Ukraine in 2013. He also led team Ukraine to victory in the World Team Chess Championship in 2013. At the Chess World Cup in 2015, he advanced to the third round but was eventually knocked out by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. He qualified for the Chess World Cup 2021, where he was eliminated in the first round by Viktor Erdős.
