Besides his player career, he is renowned for his coaching successes. He has been a highly respected trainer for the Chess Federation of Ukraine since 1991, and has trained several famous chess players including former women's world chess champion Anna Ushenina. He also works for the Greek Chess Federation as a trainer.
Kruppa has written numerous chess textbooks containing detailed explanations on how to play chess at a high level, and he also maintains a blog where he regularly shares his insights on various chess strategies and techniques. In 2014, he was awarded the title of FIDE Senior Trainer.
