Dmitry Kryakvin is a Russian chess Grandmaster. He was born on November 24, 1986 in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. He was awarded the Grandmaster title by FIDE (World Chess Federation) in 2006.


Kryakvin achieved several successes in youth tournaments, such as finishing third at the 2002 European Youth Chess Championship in the U16 category. He also took third places at the Russian Junior Championships U20 in 2003 and 2005.


His adult career also saw significant achievements. He finished second in the 2008 Voronezh Open and won the 2009 Rector Cup, held in Kharkiv, Ukraine. His biggest success was winning the Russian Championship's Higher League in 2012. Other important results include shared wins at the Chigorin Memorial in 2012 and 2014, as well as victory in the Moscow Open's E tournament in 2015.


In team events, Kryakvin has represented Russia and his local team, Rostov Region. He has participated in major events such as the Bundesliga and the European Club Cup.


Beyond his playing career, Dmitry Kryakvin also has a PhD in History and works as a coach and journalist. He writes analytical articles for the Russian Chess Federation’s website and other popular chess resources online.
