Bojan Kurajica is a Bosnian chess grandmaster of Croatian origin. He was born on 15 November 1947 in Subotica, Yugoslavia. Bojan initially represented Yugoslavia in the international chess arena, but after the Yugoslav Wars, he relocated to Bosnia and Herzegovina and has been representing the country since 1993.
Kurajica has several notable achievements in his chess career. In 1965, he won the World Junior Chess Championship, which took place in Barcelona. He was awarded the International Master (IM) title as a result of his victory there. Four years later, FIDE awarded him the prestigious title of International Grandmaster. Kurajica also represented Yugoslovia in the Student Olympiads in 1969 and won the individual silver medal.
He claimed victories at several international tournaments, including Biel (1971), Bosna (1981), Berlin (1982), and Andorra (2007). In 2012, Kurajica won the European Senior Championship in the city of Kaunas, Lithuania.
Currently, Bojan resides in Rijeka and works as a chess trainer. He also writes a chess column for national newspapers in Croatia, where he shares his knowledge and insights regarding the game. He has been a member of the Association of Chess Professionals since 2005.
