Aksel Bu Kvaloy is a Norwegian chess grandmaster. In July 2024, at fifteen, he won the Norwegian Chess Championship undefeated - a national title at an age matched only by the likes of Simen Agdestein and Magnus Carlsen before him - edging Frode Urkedal on tiebreaks and collecting his second Grandmaster norm in the process.

He returned the following July to finish second in the same championship, earning his final norm and becoming Norway's twentieth grandmaster.
