Bogdan Lalić is a Croatian chess grandmaster who was awarded the grandmaster title by FIDE in 1988. He was born on 8th March 1964 in Split, SR Croatia, then part of Yugoslavia. Lalić has won the Croatian Chess Championship once in 1988 and the British Chess Championship twice in 1998 and 1999.
He, along with his wife Susan Walker, teaches chess at Millfield School in Street, Somerset, England. He also became the first Grandmaster in Residence at Worcestershire's King's School in 2005.
A notable game Lalić played was against Magnus Carlsen during the 2003 Politiken Cup. In the game, Lalić, getting advantage of Carlsen's inaccurate moves, lured Carlsen into weakening his position and achieved victory. This game has been analyzed in Lalić's book "Queen's Gambit Declined: Lasker Variation."
