GM Lalit Babu M. R.

Lalit Babu M. R. is an Indian chess Grandmaster, a title he achieved in January 2012. Born on 5th November 1989 in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, he became the U16 Chess Champion in 2005, the Junior Champion in 2008 and South Indian Champion in 2009. He has represented India in three Chess Olympiads, with the 2012 Olympiad being particularly notable for him, as he played on the second board for the India B team and was undefeated in the nine rounds he played. Apart from this, Lalit Babu has also played in several international chess events. He won the Parsvnath Commonwealth Chess Tournament held in Delhi in January, 2012 and the Hastings Chess Congress in January, 2018. Throughout his career, he’s been affiliated with All India Chess Federation (AICF), the governing body for chess in India.
