Erwin L'Ami is a Dutch chess grandmaster. He was born on April 5, 1985, in Woerden, Netherlands. He gained the International Master title in 2004 and went on to become a grandmaster in 2005.


L'Ami has competed for the Netherlands in a number of Chess Olympiads, starting from 2006. His best performance was in the 2014 Olympiad when the Dutch team finished seventh. Individually, he won the Albin Planinc Memorial tournament in Slovenia in 2005, the Batavia tournament in Amsterdam in 2009 and 2020, and the Easter Chess Open in Basel in 2013.


He is married to Georgian Woman Grandmaster and International Master Alina L'Ami, and they live together in Hilversum, Netherlands. Together, they host a video series called the “Melody Amber” tournament for Chessbase.
