Lê Quang Liêm is a Vietnamese chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster. He was born on March 13, 1991, in Ho Chi Minh City. He became the World U14 champion in 2005 and the Under 16 runner-up in 2006. In 2013 he won the World Blitz Championship, and in 2019, he gained three places to rank 28th globally, becoming the highest-ranked Vietnamese player ever.
Lê Quang Liêm represented Vietnam in seven Chess Olympiads from 2006 to 2018, was a regular participant and winner in the annual HDBank Money Cup International Open Chess tournament in Ho Chi Minh City and won the Aeroflot Open in Moscow twice, in 2010 and 2011.
He received a scholarship to study at Webster University in the USA, where he graduated with a degree in finance and international business. While at Webster, he also played on the university's chess team, the Webster Windmills.
He was awarded the title International Master in 2006 and the Grandmaster title in 2007 while he was still 15 years old. In 2017, he was appointed head coach of the Webster University chess team.
