Koen Leenhouts is a Dutch chess grandmaster. Born on 28 January 1983 in Sluis, Netherlands, he began to learn chess at the age of seven. During his youth, he achieved numerous remarkable feats, such as becoming the Dutch Under-20 champion in 2002.
Apart from being a player, he is also involved in promoting the game. He writes columns for the Magazine of the Royal Dutch Chess Association, Chessbase, and New in Chess. He has also published three chess books.
Leenhouts has been awarded by De Pion Schoondijke, Groene Loper JJ, and Koninklijke Brugse. He also received special awards from the Chess Festival Groningen and the Jan Tinbergen Tournament.
