Luka Lenič is a Slovenian chess grandmaster who is considered one of the strongest chess players in Slovenia. He was born on 13th May 1988 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.


Lenič developed his chess skills while studying at the Ljubljana Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. He earned his FIDE Master title in 2002 at the age of 14, and then became International Master in 2004. He was named a Grandmaster in 2007, becoming the youngest Slovenian to achieve this.


He has numerous accomplishments under his belt, including six Slovenian Championships (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2018), and performing well in several international tournaments. Notably, he won the 2006 World Chess Federation's 77th International Tournament and shared first place at the 2009 Zadar Open.


Lenič has been a representative of Slovenia at multiple events, including the Chess Olympiad, on multiple occasions, ranking as high as 24th. He has also played for national teams in the European Team Chess Championships and the Mitropa Cup.
