Shilong Li is a well-known Chinese chess Grandmaster. He was born on December 19, 1975 in Sichuan Province, China. He achieved several successful titles during his professional career as a chess player.


In 2002 Li won the 3rd Tan Chin Nam Cup in Beijing, and then qualified for the FIDE World Chess Championship 2004, but was eliminated by Zurab Azmaiparashvili. Shilong participated in the FIDE World Chess Championship 2004 but was eliminated in the first round by Zurab Azmaiparashvili.


Li represented his country in team competitions on multiple occasions: he won the team silver medal and the individual gold at the Asian Team Chess Championship in Esfahan 2005, and in the following year he also took part in the Chess Olympiad in Turin, where the Chinese men's team finished sixth.


Moreover, Li finished second, behind Voja Milanović, at Calicut 2007, and participated in the Chess World Cup 2007, where he was knocked out by Magnus Carlsen in the first round.
