Liu Qingnan was born in March 3, 2002 in China. His father taught him to play chess at the age of five. At the age of ten, he ranked first in the World Youth Chess Championship. He achieved the title of Grandmaster at the age of 14, becoming one of the youngest ever to achieve this title.
Throughout his career, Liu has enjoyed significant success in various tournaments. He has won the Asian Youth Chess Championship, and placed second in the World Junior Chess Championship along with several other victories. He has been praised for his skills and strategic knowledge of chess.
One of the major highlights of his career was in 2017, when he defeated the reigning World Chess Champion during a simultaneous game. This achievement gained him much publicity and established him as a formidable chess player. To date, Liu continues to participate in and win various chess tournaments around the world.
