Eric Lobron (born 7 May 1960 in Philadelphia, USA) is a German chess grandmaster and former German chess champion. He won the German Chess Championship in 1981 and 1995. Additionally, he won the World Open in 1991, and won the open section of the Canadian Open Chess Championship in 1998.



He represented Germany in the Chess Olympiad from 1984 until 2002. He has also played for Germany between 1980 and 1985 in world and European team competitions. In the Chess Bundesliga, he played for SG Enger/Spenge and has been playing for Bayern Munich since 1988.


In addition to his competitive chess accomplishments, Lobron has also worked as a businessman and a TV commentator for German Chess broadcasts. He is also known for being a chess trainer.
