Semyon Alexandrovich Lomasov is a Russian chess player born on February 16, 2002 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His prowess in the game has earned him the Grandmaster (GM) title - the highest title in international chess.


Lomasov's chess career started with local tournaments in his home city at age seven. He then graduated to international competitions, participating in the European Youth Chess Championship in 2013 and 2014. His first significant achievement came in the World Youth Chess Championship, where he won first place in the Under 14 division in 2016.


In December 2016, he competed in the Nutcracker Generation Tournament" in Moscow, and in the same month, he was awarded the title of International Master by FIDE.


Lomasov attained the title of Grandmaster in 2018 during the European Individual Chess Championship after having achieved the necessary GM norms. He had gained three GM norms, including one from his spectacular performance at the 2017 Chigorin Memorial.


In 2020, Lomasov won the Russian Higher League Championship, becoming the youngest winner in its history. This win qualified him for his first Russian Superfinal, where he finished in fifth place.


Lomasov continues to play in prestigious tournaments and has competed against many notable Grandmasters. His fame in the global chess community can be attributed to his effective chess strategies and his high-profile victories.
