Nikolas Lubbe is a German chess grandmaster recognized for his achievements since a young age. Born on February 24, 1994, in Bochum, Germany, he first participated in the German Youth Chess Championship in 2003. Lubbe claimed the third position in the U10 section and won the competition the following year in 2004.

Continuing his remarkable performance, Lubbe won the German School Chess Championship in 2005. A year later, he experienced international recognition by winning the European Youth Chess Championship and added the World School Chess Championship to his honors as well. By the time he was 12, the Chess Federation awarded him the title of Candidate Master.

In his teenage years, Lubbe continued his ball rolling by winning the North Rhine-Westphalia Youth Chess Championship (U12 and U14). His performance at the German Youth Chess Championship awarded him the title of German Champion (U14), and he proved his worth on a global stage by securing third place at the World Youth Chess Championship (U14). These accomplishments led to him being awarded the title of FIDE Master at just 14 years of age.

Subsequently, Lubbe became the DeWIS 2009 champion, a prestigious German internet chess competition. In 2011, he won the Bottrop Open and gathered enough points to earn the title of International Master, the second-highest in chess, at only 16.

Lubbe's performances continued to impress as he played in the Schachbundesliga, the premier German team chess championship. He was a key member of the SG Bochum 31 team and later switched to Schachfreunde Deizisau. He earned his Grandmaster norms in 2015 at two major tournaments, earning him the title of Chess Grandmaster in 2016.

Nikolas Lubbe has since been actively contributing to the chess scene, both as a player and a coach, training numerous young talents in his home country and beyond.
