Péter Lukács is a Hungarian chess grandmaster. Born on 16 May 1964, Lukács earned the International Master title in 1983 and became an International Grandmaster in 1986.


He has competed in many tournaments worldwide. He represented Hungary in four Chess Olympiads (from 1992-1998), and won a team silver medal in Manila in 1992. In addition, Lukács represented Hungary in four European Team Chess Championships (from 1989-1999), winning a number of medals.


In domestic tournaments, Lukács won the Hungarian Chess Championship in 1990 and 1994, and the National Rapid Chess Championship in 1995.


From 1984-1999, Lukács was the tournament director of the First Saturday Budapest, an international chess tournament held monthly in Budapest. Since 2000, he has been a member of the National Olympic Committee of Hungarian Chess.
