Romuald Mainka is a notable chess grandmaster from Poland. He was born on 24th November, 1963 in ToruĊ, Poland. Mainka received his FIDE Master title in 1983. Subsequently, in 1987 he was awarded the International Master title and in 1995 he achieved the prestigious title of Grandmaster.
He has achieved considerable success throughout his career, with especially strong performances in the Polish Chess Championship. In the 1988 edition of the championship, he finished third. He improved this performance in the 1990 championship, claiming first place.
Internationally, Mainka has also demonstrated his adeptness at chess. In 1990, he won an international tournament held in New York City, USA. He regularly plays the 'open' tournaments and in 1998 won the International Neckar Open. He also triumphed in the 2003 Bad Wörishofen Chess Festival in Germany and in an open tournament held in Vlissingen, the Netherlands in 2005.
Mainka also played for Poland's national team in team competitions, including the Chess Olympiad in 1990. He also actively participated in the German Chess Bundesliga for several teams.
