Pavel Alexandrovich Maletin is a Russian chess Grandmaster (GM) and former chess prodigy. He was born on July 27, 1988 in Novosibirsk, Russia. Maletin earned his Grandmaster title in 2007 at the age of 19.


Maletin has had numerous accomplishments throughout his chess career. His biggest win was at the Moscow Aeroflot open in 2009 where he won the “B” division. He also won international tournaments in Guben (Germany, 2003) and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates, 2010). He participated in the Russian Championships in 2009 and finished in the middle of the pack.



Maletin is known to post on the internet about various topics in chess. His professional approach focuses on solid and thorough opening preparation, positional skills, and deep endgame understanding. Beyond a player, he is also a recognized as an experienced coach who trained noted grandmasters like Dmitry Bocharov and Alexey Sarana.
