Tomasz Markowski is a Polish chess Grandmaster who was born on October 30, 1975. He became a Grandmaster in 1998 and since then has achieved significant recognition and success on both national and international platforms.


Two achievements in his early career include winning the Polish Chess Championship in 1995 and finishing within the top 10 of the World Junior Chess Championship in 1996.


Markowski's domestic achievements include winning the Polish Chess Championship four times in 1995, 1999, 2012, and 2013. Internationally, he competed in the FIDE World Championships in 2001 and 2004, finishing in the top 16 and top 32 respectively.


He also placed within the top 10 in the European Individual Chess Championships in 2001, 2002 and 2003. In 2002, he had a particularly successful year, finishing second at the Aeroflot Open and winning the Rubinstein Memorial chess tournaments.


In team play, Markowski has represented Poland in multiple Chess Olympiads and European Team Chess Championships over the years. In the 2005 Chess World Cup, he reached the second round.
