Robert Markuš is a Serbian chess Grandmaster (GM). He was born on 29th September 1983 in Senta, Serbia. His mother is Hungarian and his father is Serb, hence Markuš identifies as both Hungarian and Serbian.


Markuš’ inaugural mark in the sport came in 1998, when he completed the European Youth Chess Championship in the U14 category with a silver medal. Steadily, he continued to climb ranks, clinching the International Master title in 2001 and the Grandmaster title in 2006.


His most significant wins are Budapest, in 2007. He also won the Serbian Championship in 2007 and 2008 consecutively. He was a significant part of the Serbian nationwide team at the 2008 Chess Olympiad.



In the Indian Premier League, he played for Dhaka Dynamos in 2016/2017 and for the Delhi Dynamites in 2018.
