Jose Eduardo Martinez Alcantara is a Peruvian chess Grandmaster, born on November 6, 1999, in the Peruvian capital city of Lima. He started playing chess at the age of six and won his first tournament at eight years old. In 2014, he represented Peru at the 35th World Chess Olympiads.
In July 2018, Alcantara played in the 41st Chess Olympiad as a member of team Peru. In September 2018, he won the silver medal in the South American U20 championship. He became a Grandmaster in October 2018 after winning the 2.3 zonal tournament, making him the seventh Peruvian chess player to achieve the title.
