Saša Martinović is a Croatian chess grandmaster. He was born on October 26, 1974. His career in chess started to shine in 1993 when he earned the title of FIDE master. Just two years later, he went on to achieve the title of International Master in 1995, and then the prestigious Grandmaster in 2006.
Martinović has won numerous national, individual, and team championships. Some highlights include being the Croatian Junior Champion at both U20 and U15 levels, twice winning the Croatian Individual Championship, and being a member of the Croatian team that won the silver medal at the 36th Chess Olympiad in 2004. His teams have also found success in European Team Championships and World Youth U26 Team Championships.
Martinović has also delivered lectures and served as a trainer for the Croatian Chess Federation. He's been supportive of rising talents, training and mentoring many younger players.
